I have lost and regained hundreds of pounds in my life. I have been on every diet from the Grapefruit Diet to Nutrisystem to Atkins to Weight Watchers (many times, including most recently).
But none of them worked long term. So I made a decision to abandon the old and embrace the new.
I’ve started using the free iPhone app My Fitness Pal. It’s like Weight Watchers but different. Yesterday I religiously logged everything I ate (you log in what exercise you do as well). The bar code scanner is fun—and convenient! And the community is super supportive.
I’m using it along with a few other girlfriends in the struggle. We communicate news by text. We try to be there for each other.
My goal is to lose 2 pounds by next week. I can barely face the reality of the number on the scale but I have forced myself to make it public. I am 203 pounds. Last year, I was 236. Not a bad year. But this year, I’m determined, will look even better.
